I’m a country girl at heart who somehow found herself in the hustle and bustle of city life. Born and raised in a small town in West Virginia, life eventually brought me to Calgary, Alberta, where I’ve spent more than two decades building a life while never quite leaving my country roots behind.

My love for storytelling started when I was five years old, spinning wild adventures about my teddy bear saving Thanksgiving. That childhood imagination never really went away. Writing became my escape, my way of exploring people, places, and all the complicated ways we find our way home.

Years later, I finally stopped dreaming about becoming an author and became one.

Starting Over in Montana introduced readers to Evanston, Montana, and the characters who have since grown into a world of their own. Today, I write interconnected romance and romantic suspense filled with second chances, found family, humor, danger, and love that sometimes arrives when we least expect it.

But the person who believed in my writing long before any book carried my name was my late father.

After he passed away, I found a poem I had written for him when I was eighteen. He had kept it for 31 years. I had no idea.

Knowing that he had held onto my words for all those years meant more than I could ever explain. His belief in me is part of the reason I finally chose to share my stories with the world. Every book I publish carries a little piece of that promise with it.

Since then, my books have received recognition from Readers’ Favorite and the Chatelaine Book Awards, and my storytelling has expanded beyond the page with my podcast, Cowboy Logic: Mountain Girl Meets Cowboy Country.

But underneath all of it, I’m still that West Virginia girl who loves a good story.

I write about people who have lived a little, lost a little, and still find the courage to love again. Because I believe second chances matter — in fiction and in life.

My love affair with romance novels began when I was thirteen, when my aunt handed me a book by Diana Palmer. That was it. I was hooked. I read everything of hers I could get my hands on, and somewhere along the way, I started imagining the kinds of stories I might tell myself one day.

Over the years, authors like Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Zoe Chant joined my shelves and helped shape the reader — and eventually the writer — I became. I fell in love with unforgettable characters, strong emotional connections, a little danger, plenty of passion, and stories where love is worth fighting for.

It took me a while to finally put my own stories into the world. I didn't get there alone.

My family, friends, and fellow writers encouraged me through the doubts, celebrated the milestones, and reminded me to keep going when writing a book seemed slightly insane.

Today, I get to write the stories I spent so many years loving as a reader: romances about people with histories, scars, complicated lives, and another chance at something extraordinary.

And maybe that's what I love most about romance.

The happily-ever-after doesn't belong only to people whose lives went perfectly the first time.
